Which Toyota EVs Are Eligible For Tax Rebates in New Jersey?

Currently, the new Toyota bZ4X is the only new Toyota EV that qualifies for the following tax and state-allocated incentives in New Jersey:

• Rebates of up to $25 per EPA electric mile 
• Up to $1,500 toward EVs that cost between $45-50,000
• Up to $4,000 toward EVs that cost less than $45,000
• Exemption from NJ’s .4% fee for vehicles with low fuel efficiency or sales prices that exceed $45,000 
• Charge Up New Jersey EV purchase incentive program benefits

The new bZ4X is an outstanding innovation for Toyota, providing a maximum EPA-estimated 252-mile* range of all-electric miles, 30-minute DC fast charging**, and front-wheel drive. Currently available in two different trim levels: XLE and Limited, the model offers standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, as well as a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment center.

What Is The Charge Up New Jersey EV Purchase Incentive Program?

The Charge Up New Jersey Program went into effect on November 21, 2023. It is a rebate program that incentivizes the purchase of clean vehicles in the Garden State. Successful enrollment can provide up to $4,000 toward the purchase or lease of an EV or program-eligible vehicle, as well as $250 toward eligible EV chargers.

**DC charging time will vary based on weather and other factors. DC charging times will increase as temperatures decrease, with significant increases possible at temperatures below freezing. DC Fast Charging should be limited to three sessions per day, regardless of the weather. After three 10-80% charge sessions, DC Fast Charging over the next day may take longer and be less effective. Accessory use, battery level and condition, and charger specifications also can negatively affect charging times. Actual range attainable per minute/hour of charging will vary significantly depending on speed, outside temperature, accessory use, how/where you drive, battery condition and other factors.
